Aos deuses da natureza

Para falar de uma árvore

Que tem graça e beleza

E para o sertão

É símbolo de grandeza.

Árvore valente

Guerreira do sertão

Traz riqueza pro povo

E orgulho pra nação

Falo com respeito

E muita gratidão.

Histórias são contadas

Desta árvore milenar

Meus olhos brilham

Quando paro para pensar

Que a sede de muitos

Ele ajudou a matar.

Com seus galhos vivos

E seu fruto uma beleza

Transforma-se para a gente

Uma fonte de riqueza

Agradeço a Deus

E a toda natureza.

Árvore que dá de beber

Sagrada do sertão

O seu fruto agora é

Reconhecido na nação

E o privilégio é nosso

Por ter ele em nosso chão.

Todos agora sabem

Estou falando da umbuzeiro

Que vive no sertão

Como um guerreiro

Que é valente e forte

Como o povo brasileiro.

Agradeço a todos

Por esta história escutar

Da umbuzeiro falei

Mas agora vou desfrutar

Dos produtos do umbuzeiro

Vindos da agricultura familiar.

The Umbuzeiro

I ask now for permission

To the Gods of the nature

To talk about a tree

That has a beautiful structure

And to the backwoods

It’s symbol of treasure

Brave tree

Warrior of the backwoods

Bring wealth to the people

And pride for the nationhoods

I say with respect

And lots of gratitudes

Stories are told

About this millennial tree

My eyes shine

When I stop to see

That of thirst of so many

It helped them to be free

With its live branches

And its fruitfulness

Turn to us

A source of wealthiness

I thank God

And all nature kindness

The tree that gives us to drink

The backwoods’ divine

Its fruit is now

Known by the whole country line

And it’s my privilege

To have it in the land of mine

I’m talking about the umbuzeiro

This everyone knows

That lives in the backwoods

Like a warrior that arose

Brave and strong

As the Brazilian people goes

I appreciate everyone

Who listened to my tale

About the umbuzeiro I told

But now I’ll regale
