This or That

There’s either rain and no sun,

Or there is sun without rain!

Either wear the glove and not the ring,

or the ring will be in vain!

Who goes up in the air,

yet still remains on the ground?

Who is able to scream,

without making any sound?

Either save the money or buy the candy,

Or buy the candy or save the money.

Either this or that: or this or that …

Choices I make through my journey!

Perhaps I should play, or I should study.

or wait for the cat to come out of the hat

What I don’t understand is

What’s better after all: is it this or is it that?

Ou isto ou aquilo (Cecília Meireles)

Ou se tem chuva e não se tem sol

ou se tem sol e não se tem chuva!

Ou se calça a luva e não se põe o anel,

ou se põe o anel e não se calça a luva!

Quem sobe nos ares não fica no chão,

quem fica no chão não sobe nos ares.

É uma grande pena que não se possa

estar ao mesmo tempo em dois lugares!

Ou guardo o dinheiro e não compro o doce,

ou compro o doce e gasto o dinheiro.

Ou isto ou aquilo: ou isto ou aquilo …

e vivo escolhendo o dia inteiro!

Não sei se brinco, não sei se estudo,

se saio correndo ou fico tranquilo.

Mas não consegui entender ainda

qual é melhor: se é isto ou aquilo.
