I’m usually the type of person who tends to admire the work of someone without truly knowing about their career or public life. Even so, there are times when some artists really stand out for me, which is the case of Guilherme Briggs, a voice actor, translator and dubbing director who, despite not being very recognized by his looks, having an ordinary Joe type of vibe, surely has a voice that any kid who grew up watching cartoons in Brazil, since the late 90s, most certainly heard him at least once, even if they didn’t know it belonged to him.

He is the voice of many characters, such as Superman, Buzz Lightyear (from Toy Story), King Julien (from Madagascar) and Mickey Mouse. But, even though most of his characters have really strong personalities, when asked during an interview which one he thinks is more like him, Briggs answered that would probably be a background character, like police officer n.3, since he is really shy and introverted in real life.

Briggs has proven to be, not just an amazing voice actor, recognized as such by other career colleagues, but also a very creative and talented artist in general. According to him, a big influence for this to happen was his father, who died when he was only fifteen, but was truly a person of many crafts and would always say that Briggs shouldn’t grow up to have a regular job, he should become an artist.

After all of this, and knowing that I grew up watching a lot of his characters in my favorite cartoons, always wanted to become an artist and have learned about him, what he does and what an amazing person he is, you definitely could say that he is a big inspiration to me and a person who I truly admire.
